FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. --
If you’re a veteran looking for work, NBC-17 wants to help connect you with the right employer.
A special event for veterans, “Hiring Our Heroes,” will be held Friday at the Crown Center in Fayetteville from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event is designed to connect veterans with employers to make sure those who have served are back in the work force and have the right fit for their skills. It’s part of a national push by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Department of Labor and American Legion in conjunction with NBC News.
"Hiring Our Heroes" is free for veterans and as of Tuesday, more than 500 veterans have already signed up. Veterans are encouraged to pre-register at hoh.greatjob.net, but walk-ups are welcome.
The event will feature 78 companies and key veterans service organizations will also be on hand.
NBC-17 is partnering with the Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training, the North Carolina Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce to bring this event to the community.
Other partners include:
