Former Gov. Jeb Bush is featured in a television advertisement the U.S. Chamber of Commerce released Tuesday for Florida Republican congressional candidate David Jolly.

"With all the dysfunction in Washington, your next congressman needs to know how to get things done," Bush says. "That's Dave Jolly."

"Dave's the best candidate to go to Congress, fight wasteful spending and help create good jobs," he adds.

The seat was held by the longest-serving Republican member in Congress, Rep. Bill Young, until he died on Oct. 18.

While the seat was held by a Republican for 43 years, and Young last won the seat in 2012 with 57 percent of the vote, the district was won by President Barack Obama in both the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections, making the seat highly contested in what some have said could be a bellwether for the midterm elections in November.

Jolly won the Republican primary on Jan. 14 with 45 percent of the vote. A special election is scheduled for March 11.

In a poll by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee of 527 likely voters taken Jan. 24 and released Jan. 28, Democratic candidate Alex Sink led with 49 percent versus Jolly's 45 percent, The Hill reported.

Three Republican-leaning groups — American Crossroads, American Action Network and YG Network — announced last week that they are spending $1.2 million in advertising for Jolly in the form of TV ads and mailers.
