U.S. Chamber of Commerce endorses Costa

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is endorsing Rep. Jim Costa, D-Fresno, in his re-election campaign to California’s 16th Congressional District, the Costa campaign said in a release.

The Chamber is one of the largest lobbying groups in the country, representing the interests of more than three million businesses and organizations nationwide.

“I went to Congress to fight for our Valley,” Costa said in the release. “In that fight - for more jobs, for better paying jobs, for a climate that supports small businesses - I’m proud to have partners like the Chamber, and I’m proud to have their support for re-election.”

Earlier this year, Costa was also honored with the Chamber’s “Spirit of Enterprise” award that is given to lawmakers with a proven track record on issues important to the business community.

The newly drawn 16th District includes portions of Madera, Fresno and Merced counties. Costa will be facing Republican Brian Whelan in the November general election.
