The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is seeking applications for its 2013 Small Business of the Year Award, which honors the country’s small businesses that embody the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.
The winner receives a $10,000 cash prize, and businesses don’t have to be a member of the chamber to apply.
Businesses may be nominated or apply by clicking here.
Nominations are free, but a there is a fee for businesses to apply. Members of the U.S. Chamber must pay a $25 application fee, while nonmembers must pay $150, which includes a one-year chamber membership.
Nominations are due Dec. 10 and applications are due Jan. 7.
Small businesses must meet the following requirements:
Fewer than 250 employees
Gross revenues of less than $20 million in 2010 and 2011
Must be able to attend America’s Small Business Summit 2013 in Washington next spring where the award will be presented
Eligible applications for the award will be determined by the following criteria:
Staff training and motivation
Community involvement
Customer service
Business strategies and goals
