I believe the 80/20 rule is always in effect....almost like a natural law. Over 50 percent of the population now does not pay income taxes. Payroll taxes are not income taxes they are payment for income the lower 50 percent will receive later. What is clear to me is the world welcomes capital while the US eschews it why would I leave it here where the average guy on the street wanders around with a sense of entitlement rather than a work ethic. Who are these people that believe the 20 percent that actually create the jobs for the 80 percent ought to pay more in taxes?

Raymond, there WAS a day long ago when that method was possible but no more. With abouty $11T in debt run up under JUST the last 3 gop presidents, the problem is  SO SEVERE that mere spendning cuts wont do it!! Under Clinton, his tax increase on the wealthy, combined with  steady spending cuts STILL too FIVE YEARS  to eliminate a $250B bush deficit!! How long do you think it would take to eliminate  a $1.6T deficit. Further, how long will it take to eliminate 90% of a $13.5T nationald even with a tough austerity programs. THIS is the legacy of the GOP!! This country is in SERIOUS financial trouble that isnt going away anytime soon.

Yes I agree, the middle class IS overtaxed. Republicans have shifted the burden of taxation from the well to do TO the middle and lower classes. It's time of the little guy to get tax breaks; the well to do have been on the gravy train far too long, thanks to the gop and the chamber who supports them like little acolytes!

PS-  Im shocked you would use Rasmessen poll are a refernce, given the fact that they are under such attack by almost ALL other pollsters becuz of their methodology and the fact they almost ALWAYS tilt towards the gop! That is natural since the Rasmussen brothers are longime LARGE contributors AND advisors to republicans!

When is SOME-ONE going to wake up and and realize that budgets can be balanced by cutting spending, rather than raising taxes for programs WE DON'T NEED!!!! Stop taxing us!!!

I certainly do feel we're being over-taxed.  Not only will we absorb new taxes, but the health care extra costs will be factored into every businesses products and services, so we'll also see consumer and business costs go up that way.  Also, states are rushing to fill their voids, so here we go again.  The the value of the dollar is plummeting, so costs of fuel and imports have been raising as an effect on the inflated cost per barrel of fuel.  Ultimately everything will be passed on to the user, so the poorer will get poorer and the rich will get poorer.

Definitely we are being overtaxed.  Fed gov't is spending recklessly.  With over 40% of Americans NOT paying any taxes at all, there is a real problem here.
