Media coverage of yesterday's fight in Washington over eliminating certain subsidies to oil companies generally cast the President and Congressional Democrats as seizing the offensive on the issue at Republicans' expense – even as reports and analyses hold out little hope that the debate will lead to lower gasoline prices.
