Employee absenteeism costs affect businesses of every size. The CCH Unscheduled Absence Survey shows that from 1995 through 2007, the cost of absenteeism has ranged from a low of $602 to a high of $789 per employee.
The chart below, based on figures from a CCH Unscheduled Absence Survey, shows the maximum and minimum cost per employee for unscheduled absences in small businesses and plainly shows that absenteeism can be expensive.

The minimum cost per employee for unscheduled absences in the smallest businesses was more than $100, while the maximum cost reached upwards of $500 per year!
